Elvis Presley: The King and I

The King and I

Rockin out at Sun Studios, Memphis

Elvis or The Beatles? I love them both but for me it’s Elvis on top every time. John Lennon himself said ‘before Elvis there was nothing’, and without Elvis, him and Paul wouldn’t have even got out of Liverpool. Bob Dylan said, hearing Elvis for the first time was like ‘busting out of jail’.

But what is the state of play with EP today.

Some say they’ve seen him – just the other day – at 7/11, tucking a couple boxes of donuts under his arm.

Others reckon he’s long dead worm-food.

I say he’s alive and well, and coming to an iTunes playlist near you soon.

N.B. If you love Elvis and haven’t checked out The Memphis Sessions* (complete with hilarious outtakes and cool alternative versions), you aint heard nothin’ yet.

*Not the ‘Wet Wet Wet’ album. It may be good too, but I think Elvis is a better place to start.
